urShelter · Adoption

From listing to the 365-day check

For adoption coordinators. How an animal is listed, chosen and placed, and what happens after it goes home.

Listings that are ready before they go live

A draft listing shows exactly what blocks it: a description, a photo, or ownership. Adopters meet the animal on urAdopt, the public side of the same record, so there is no second listing system to keep in step.

Applications and decisions

Applications arrive on the animal. When an adoption completes, the other applications for that animal are declined and listed, so nobody is left waiting without an answer.

Contracts, chips and follow-up

Adoption contracts and microchip registration are recorded as part of the adoption. Follow-up checks at 30, 90 and 365 days keep the relationship going after the animal leaves.

When an animal is adopted, its record goes with it. The adopter inherits the record, and the vet they choose can read the parts they are entitled to.

Returns, handled honestly

An adopter can ask the shelter to take an animal back, and the shelter accepts or declines the request. The return is part of the animal’s history, not a deleted adoption.

Surrender help before intake

Your public surrender form opens with the help your shelter lists. The person says why, how soon, and about the animal, and staff see each request with its reason, urgency and how to reach the person.

Questions

Where do adopters see our animals?

On urAdopt, the public door onto the same animals your staff manage in urShelter.

What happens to other applicants when one adoption completes?

Their applications are declined and listed for your staff, so every applicant gets an answer.

Can an adopter return an animal?

Yes. The adopter asks, and your shelter accepts or declines; the return stays on the animal’s record.
